Founded in 2003, the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the cherished memories and traditions uniquely found at the Kansas State Fair and its year-round events on the Kansas State Fairgrounds. As a self-supporting fee-fund state agency, the Kansas State Fair relies on minimal state funding. Despite its rich history, the fair requires additional funds for upgrading aging facilities, constructing new ones, and supporting educational programs, all while preserving the timeless traditions of the Kansas State Fair.
“And we’re off”….. to planning and creating “Hats & Horses” a new featured event of the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation in our beautiful new 1861 Club venue. Hats and Horses is not just another Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation featured event, but an event which is centered around the most exciting two minutes in sports: The Kentucky Derby!
Mark your calendars for May 3, 2025 and gather your friends, because you will definitely want to be at “Hats & Horses”! Where the Foundation will work to create the closest thing to a Kentucky Derby experience without actually being there. The day will be filled with Mint Juleps and a Derby inspired menu, along with simulcasting the race on our nearly 300 sq. ft. screen and the more than 15 large tv’s throughout the 1861 Club, including our inviting outdoor patio.
Yes, there will be contests for the best Hats and ways to support and cheer on your favorite Horses – and many more fun and exciting activities!
